If you want a more claustrophobic, space-faring Myst experience, Prominence will not disappoint! 4. The soundtrack is exceptional, breathing life into the walking back-and-forth that might otherwise seem tiresome.
They all fit appropriately within the context of the story as it unfurls around you, and you as the character rise to meet them.
Some of the puzzles in Prominence are more difficult than others, but they’re arranged in a satisfying way none feel illogical or forced. There’s even a text-based interface that makes you feel like a La Forge from Star Trek. It’s a very different setting than Myst (Prominence is heavier sci-fi and takes place on an abandoned spaceship), and relies more on listening to messages and hacking terminals to progress and gather clues. Prominence is similar to Myst in that it’s a first-person puzzle game with compelling character arcs, a captivating narrative, and a rich atmosphere that keeps you excited to see what’s waiting around the next corner. You might want to try the 10th Anniversary Edition which includes the original Myst, Riven and Exile. In my opinion, the entire atmosphere and feel of the original is lost in the newer version. I actually never played through the whole thing, since I prefer the original pre-rendered version far more. However, according to this list at MacRumours, it runs very well under Rosetta. I don't know if realMyst will work well or not, since I have not played it on an Intel Mac, or even a Mac for that matter. I played it on my Intel iMac a year or so ago without issues.

haha.Īs for Myst V working on Intel Macs, it works great, you just need to download the patch from Ubisoft which allows the installer to run. It's such a wonderful and imaginative world with a richly detailed story. I have read all the novels and played through all the games, and even played Uru online for a time before it was taken offline. Just want to say that I am a HUGE Myst fan, and have been since the first game was released.
